New Features
- Upload to Microsoft OneDrive and SharePoint - StarWitness Interviewer now allows the user to upload recordings directly to Microsoft OneDrive and SharePoint. This feature requires registering the Field Interviewer desktop application on the Microsoft Azure Active Directory portal (see OneDrive Integration Guide below).
- Support for Field Interviewer HD September 2022 firmware - Field Interviewer HD with the September 2022 firmware supports true authentication code generation and additional metadata. Contact Signalscape to have your Field Interviewer HD upgraded with the September 2022 firmware version.
- Signed download package - The download packages are now signed with an Extended Validation (EV) code signing certificate to enable installation on Windows systems that have restrictions about installing unsigned software.
Windows 10 Required
Microsoft ended extended support for Windows 7 on January 14, 2020 and is no longer providing updates, including security updates.
Known Issues
Error while importing from Field Interviewer HD
When importing from the Field Interviewer HD you may get the error: "Attempted to access a drive that is unavailable". To work around this issue, unplug all USB storage devices (thumb drives, external hard drives or SSD drives, phones, etc) except the Field Interviewer HD and re-attempt the import.
Upgrading
Some users are reporting that the upgrade fails during the SQL Server Express portion of the installation. When it fails the installation wizard reports:
Setup Failed.
0x84bb0001 - Unspecified error.
To resolve this issue, update Microsoft Edge to the latest version and then retry the StarWitness Interviewer setup. See Microsoft knowledgebase article KB4594205 for more information.

New Features
- Export interview recordings to MP4 files. This format encapsulates H.264 video and AAC-formated audio.
- Export recordings to multiple files of a specified size of MOV and MP4 file formats. File sizes can be 200MB, 500MB, 1GB, 2GB, 3GB, or 4GB.
- Create multiple data DVDs for lengthy interviews. DVDs can hold MP4 and MOV full-resolution formats.
- Create Comma Separated Value files from audit and chain-of-custody logs. Use the CSV files in Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet applications.
- New status indicators show if an interview has been burned to DVD or exported from the system. When highlighted by the mouse, these indicators display the date of DVD creation or file export creation.
- Enhanced management of interview recordings on Field Interviewers when importing the interviews from the media card.
- Sort recordings by date or duration when uploading to the software.
- The recording time is displayed in local time when importing.
- Metadata editing for open recordings started.
- Includes upgrade to SQL Server 2017 Express
