Kari Ellis Overhauls Her Interview Room
Meet Kari Ellis
"I am a Forensic Video Specialist with a local police department in North Carolina."
As part of my duties, I assist with all custodial interviews for our department. As recently as four years ago, our department was using a VHS-recording system. Well, we've advanced through three different systems since then. The first was a computer-based interview room which required codec's, a special player and a lot of troubled software. After much frustration, we made the decision to abandon this costly technology ($100,000) and installed a more practical DVR box system. We have experienced different issues with this (I guess "cheap" isn't always best). We are currently using a system designed and built by StarWitness."
StarWitness Meets Expectations
Our department has had a working relationship with this company for over three years. We currently use all of their video enhancement software, desktop and field collection kit. I personally have used their products in well over 500 cases.
My expectations have definitely been met with StarWitness Interviewer. The microphone can pick up the slightest whisper and the picture quality has great resolution. This system is very high-tech, but it is extremely easy to operate. I love it because it is not a proprietary system-there aren't any codec's to worry about and the videos play on either a computer or a DVD player.
StarWitness Interviewer outshines our current system. The picture-in-picture is a great tool. You can tag & document a video and the burning tool is ultra easy. Simply put, this system is press a button to record and then press the same button to stop. Once your interview is complete, click on the DVD logo and click burn. Yes, it's that easy!
I would highly recommend this product to any law enforcement agency. Not only for the ease of the system but the excellent customer service that we've received with them throughout the years.
